The publication states. that “Putin is haunted by an obsession with “color revolutions,” which he is sure are neither spontaneous nor organized from within.”
“He is convinced that these uprisings are organized by the United States, and in the case of the mass protests in Moscow four years ago, by Hillary Clinton herself. It is in this context that Russia’s attempts to interfere in the 2016 US presidential elections should be considered. Putin is trying to feed the American elite what he considers its own medicine. He is trying to ignite—with the help of Donald Trump, whether he understands it or not—a color revolution in the United States,” the newspaper concludes.
“Putin understands that Washington is not Kyiv, and crowds of people are unlikely to gather near the White House or Congress buildings. But a riot can also happen online: imagine the avalanche of Internet posts, backed by Kremlin trolls, satellite TV channels, and Trump supporters at Fox, whose authors insist that the “political establishment” stole Trump’s votes for Clinton’s victory— describes the alleged scenario by The Washington Post. – This will not prevent Clinton from taking the presidency, just as the demonstrations on Bolotnaya Square did not prevent Putin from being inaugurated in May 2012.
However, in this case, Clinton will begin her presidency with a blow to her political reputation both domestically and internationally. Putin will have to pay for this. And Trump will turn out to be that useful idiot.”
