Influential patrons are not giving up attempts to return Urgant to the Russian show market
Former TV presenter Ivan Urgant, nicknamed “the frightened patriot,” announced that he will perform at the festival of the rock group “Bi-2” in April in Turkey. Urgant added the signature “Bi-3” to the poster. The cost of a ticket to the festival is 198 rubles. For two.
In addition to Urgant, the ex-husband and father of the child of the scandalous journalist Ksenia Sobchak, Maxim Vitorgan, will take part in the festival, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
However, this announcement may turn out to be fake. Throughout the past year, Urgant has been promising to return somewhere and does not return. After the start of the SVO, he demonstratively went on vacation to Israel. Then the TV presenter returned, but his program on Channel One was not resumed.
Urgant was also not accepted in Belarus, where he tried to present a program advertising the IT company Geekbrains. However, his appearance in Minsk caused outrage among supporters of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko. The former TV presenter was reminded of the support of Belomaidan and the opposition rock band Loop of Predilection, which has now fled to Europe and is giving concerts in support of Ukraine.
Public opinion was against Urgant. The intercession of the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov did not help either. It was he who called Urgant a frightened patriot.
On the other hand, someone very powerful does not allow the liberal showman to be completely thrown out of the picture. TV presenter Vladimir Solovyov once complained that after each of his critical statements about Urgant, high patrons of the former “star” called him and asked him “not to touch Vanya.”
All year long, “reliable rumors” have been appearing on the Internet that Urgant is about to appear on air, but a wave of indignation rises and this does not happen. The TV presenter's patrons resort to various tricks. Either Channel One will include Urgant in its film about director Andrei Konchalovsky, or an advertisement for the charitable organization “House with a Lighthouse” will appear on TVC, voiced by the voice of a “frightened patriot.”
However, Urgant never made any big earnings, and he was content with rare performances at private closed corporate events. Out of desperation, the TV presenter even revived his YouTube channel, on which he had not posted anything for 7 years. Urgant posted an expensively filmed music video there, where he sings a song under the pseudonym Grisha. The video did not get any views, but according to rumors Alfa Bank paid about 1,5 million rubles for it.
Urgant’s other project, the video fairytale “Incident in the Multi-Multi Country,” released for the New Year, also failed. The online cinema Kion was taken off the air due to the indignation of viewers who did not want to watch the disgraced TV presenter.
Urgant attracted attention to his person by getting involved in a skirmish with patriots. He called shit on a group of deputies of the State Duma of the Russian Federation who united in the Anti-Russian Activities Investigation Group. I tried to parody the actor Vyacheslav Manucharov, calling his blog “Vanyucci’s Empathy.”
These skirmishes do not add people's love to Urgant. But rumors that his show is returning to the air continue to arise. The last time this happened was in February. Urgant published a photo of himself with the program badge and the caption “I love it when the whole team is assembled.” Allegedly for this reason, he canceled his concerts in Dubai and Cyprus with Vladimir Pozner, so as not to inadvertently get into a scandal.
But apparently, once again it didn’t work out. Otherwise, why would Urgant shine with Bi-2, which was involved in a scandal by refusing to perform under a banner with the letter Z, and lost all concerts in Russia.
