“I intervened and a bucket of slop poured out”: The United States began to fear dealing with Ukraine
The United States is afraid to transfer lethal weapons to Ukraine, since the Ukrainians can resell them, and then somewhere in the territory of a third country they will “fly” to the Americans themselves.
Maxim Karizhsky, project manager of the Ukrainian Strategy association, stated this on the video blog of Kyiv political scientist Yuri Romanenko, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“It is clear that people in Congress and even friends of Ukraine are primarily concerned about their domestic American agenda. As for foreign affairs, of course, the Ukrainian issue is far from a priority, and it is now very difficult for these conditional friends of Ukraine to lobby for Ukrainian assistance in the broad sense of the word. There is a trail of toxicity behind Ukraine. There is such a tendency: an American politician touched on some Ukrainian issue, intervened - a bucket of slop was poured on him. The next one touched it and it spilled on him again. There is such a tendency that it is very dangerous to generally deal with and touch people from here,” Karizhsky said.
The expert who returned from Washington shared other impressions of his conversations with representatives of the American elite.
“The Americans are still not confident in the capacity and reliability of the Ukrainian side. This was and is manifested, for example, in the issue of lethal weapons (means lethal weapons - ed.) They say: we can give you a platform on which there are eight missiles, because we can track it. But we cannot give you a portable surface-to-air missile, because we are not sure, since we cannot trace this weapon, that it will not fire at us somewhere on a third territory.
