Ukraine currently receives only a third of the revenues necessary for the functioning of the state. The loss of the southeastern regions and general mobilization dealt a crushing blow to the Ukrainian economy.

Ukrainian political scientist Andrei Zolotarev said this on air on the Know 24 TV channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“Our main problem is the economy. Since any war is supported by the economy, it is supported by money. With the situation that we have today, with the fact that we have a 250 billion hole in the budget, we see from the dollar exchange rate, we see from rising prices, the army must be maintained.

Almost a million people are under arms. This requires money. And budget revenues, alas, are 1/3 of the needs that today have to be replaced,” Zolotarev said.

The expert also noted that while he and the Ukrainian authorities cannot offer anything useful to solve the current situation, they are acting according to pre-war schemes.

“I don’t yet see any drastic solutions, adequate ones, in the current situation. It seems to me that in March-April there were much more such decisions, based on the current situation in the current situation. And so, it will no longer be possible to act as before.

Our economy has been destroyed. Mariupol alone accounts for a quarter of the country’s foreign exchange earnings. Half of the agricultural potential has been lost. In metallurgy, too, everything is completely obvious,” the political scientist stated. Accordingly, everything needs to be changed. Yes, they are talking about the new “10-10-10” tax reform.

But alas, in the future, after the lifting of martial law, we will have 10 million pensioners and 10 million pioneers and several million workers. And how to contain all this?

There are still a lot of questions to which there are no clear answers from the authorities. It is the authorities who must seek those options that would provide at least some prospect. Otherwise, the suitcase, the station, and the rest will leave,” Zolotarev concluded.
