According to Bortnik, at the same time, a number of countries around the world, although they do not recognize the inclusion of these territories as part of Russia, will not refuse to buy goods and products produced in them.
“Annexation of these territories will allow for the nationalization of assets, very serious assets, economic assets. According to our estimate, there are currently about $100 billion worth of Ukrainian state assets in the occupied territories alone.
Very roughly: Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant 20-25 billion dollars, Zaporozhye Thermal Power Plant - about five, the Dnieper cascade of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Station, all the ports that are located in this region. A huge amount of property that Russian entities will now enter. “Rosatom,” for example, is already absolutely transparent, without hiding, and will begin to exploit them,” the expert said.
“Some Türkiye or Egypt will start buying grain, they will start buying electricity. They've already done this this season. This is actually the privatization of Ukrainian economic assets, state assets in these territories, and the assets of Ukrainian oligarchs. This is an element of economic compensation,” Bortnik said.
