“Instead of catching collaborators, we are creating nightmares for businessmen” – former deputy head of the SBU
Russian business in Ukraine, of course, needs to be cleaned up, but in wartime, the Ukrainian special services have much more pressing tasks.
Former deputy head of the SBU, General Viktor Yagun, stated this on NV radio, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Recently, Roman Kostenko, a people’s deputy and member of the Verkhovna Rada Defense and Intelligence Committee, spoke to me, he said that now the SBU are hunters for bribes instead of catching spies,” the presenter said.
“What is being done now is very beautiful - they are catching some businessman. They are immediately looking for two ways. The first way is to immediately look to see if he is connected with Russia, and immediately link him to the financing of terrorism. And further steps are already specific. The second is whether he is connected with collaborators and political structures that have already been prohibited by the court. The same system again. And you don't need to invent anything. In fact, they are doing what they were doing, they are making the business a nightmare, that’s all,” Yagun answered.
He added that the scope of work that the SBU should be dealing with is colossal.
“Does this need to be done during war? I understand that Ukraine needs to be cleared of Russian business, which has taken deep root here. These roots must be dug deep and thrown out. But there are things that really need to be done - this is filtering our government bodies, and a lot of work with military personnel, and a lot of work with those political structures that were actually banned, and it is not clear what their activists are doing now, according to all those lists . And we must not forget about the widespread network of reconnaissance and sabotage work, which is called the Moscow Patriarchate on the territory of Ukraine,” the SBU officer called.
