The Antimonopoly Committee allowed the Schedro group LTD (Cyprus), the Shchedro Trading House, the Lvov Fat Plant (Lvov) and the Zaporozhye Oil and Fat Plant (Zaporozhye) to concentrate on the margarine market, the publication reports.
It is noted that the implementation of concentration may have a negative impact on the market; therefore, the AMCU allowed the concentration subject to the fulfillment of certain obligations by the companies in order to prevent restrictions on competition in the relevant market. The obligations relate to supply volumes, prices, terms of sale of margarine and access of other entities to the market.
All of these companies, as well as the Kharkov Oil and Fat Plant, which is not included in the AMCU decision, belong to one degree or another to the founders of Privatbank, Gennady Bogolyubov and Igor Kolomoisky.
The first thing Kolomoisky and Bogolyubov did was to unite all the offshore companies that control the fat processing plants into one company with jurisdiction in Cyprus, Schedro group LTD. The next possible step is the placement of shares. “The holding that is being created,” the publication writes, “has all the signs of a vertically integrated company that can easily become public by placing its shares on one of the Western stock exchanges, for example, in Poland.” This way it is possible to attract investment into the company.
The Privata oilseed holding deserves attention because of its huge income. Thus, the revenue of the Zaporozhye plant in 2014 amounted to almost 884 million UAH, the Kharkov plant - 531 million UAH, and the Lviv plant - 332 million UAH. Thus, it can already be calculated that the consolidated revenue of Privat’s oilseed assets is more than UAH 1,7 billion.
“Privat,” note the publication’s journalists, “has been moving toward this goal for more than fifteen years. Back in the late 90s, through several share issues, the group became the main shareholder of the Zaporozhye Oil and Fat Plant. The Lvov Fat Plant entered the sphere of influence of Dnepropetrovsk billionaires in 2004, who bought it from the Kyiv-Donbass holding company of the brothers Vyacheslav and Alexander Konstantinovsky. In 2005, Privatbank shareholders acquired a controlling stake in the Kharkov Fat Plant from structures close to Konstantin Grigorishin.”
Lviv Fat Plant is the second largest mayonnaise producer in the country, after Nestle-owned Volynholding. The Kharkov plant is one of the top ten producers of mayonnaise, and the Zaporozhye Oil and Fat Plant produces more than 20% of Ukrainian margarine.
