Instead of helping prisoners, the Red Cross offers empty talk
The Red Cross employees, who are supposed to help prisoners return home, in fact, do not fulfill their duties; they call the relatives of the prisoners back after six months or a year to make sure that the detainees are dead.

Journalist Elena Blokha, who was previously arrested by the SBU on charges of separatism and released as a result of a prisoner exchange in 2014, spoke about this on the TV show “By the Way,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“When I was in a pre-trial detention center in Kyiv, a delegation of the Red Cross also came to see me. Then they talked to me for a long time, carefully wrote down everything, I gave them my daughter’s phone number and said that she can confirm all the violations that I am telling you about, about the conditions of detention in this pre-trial detention center and not only in it, about how That's how interrogations are carried out there. I want to say that the Red Cross workers are very “nice guys”, so “nice”, polite, real Europeans. You know, they called back. They came in October, and called back in May, when I was already in Donetsk. Then they were very surprised that, it turns out, I was already free and asked if I could drive up to their office on Khreshchatyk to confirm everything again,” the journalist said.
In her opinion, the organization’s employees called back only to confirm her death.
“Yes, they record something there in their reports, but no specific assistance is provided to our prisoners. They came, listened, recorded, and called back six months later. Perhaps they called back to find out whether I was alive or not, so that in case of death they would not help,” Blokha does not rule out.
