Instead of launch vehicles, Yuzhmash will produce tractors, - the new governor of the Dnepropetrovsk region
Kyiv, April 10 (PolitNavigator, Vasily Ablyazimov) – The largest high-tech Ukrainian manufacturer in the space sector, Yuzhmash, is going through difficult times. The company lacks components, government orders have been interrupted, and relations with its main trading and industrial partner, Russia, are complicated. Wage arrears as of January 2015 amounted to more than five million dollars, reports TASS. The company has partially suspended operations.

The new chairman of the Dnepropetrovsk Regional State Administration, Valentin Reznichenko, however, knows how to save the “Production Association “Southern Machine-Building Plant” named after A. M. Makarov.”
Reznichenko believes that a real chance for the revival of the plant is the production of domestic tractors that will be competitive in the market.
Valentin Reznichenko is ready to provide real assistance in obtaining working capital for Yuzhmash to establish production and increase the quantity of products, reports “Dnieper evening».
“Firstly, it is necessary to improve the quality of our products to the level of our Belarusian colleagues,” says Reznichenko. “I am sure that Ukrainian agricultural producers will buy Dnepropetrovsk tractors. Both municipal and city enterprises will be able to buy the equipment. 4,5 thousand tractors is a big market,” emphasized Valentin Reznichenko.
Recall, Yuzhmash already produces a certain number of tractors and industrial equipment. Now, in the absence of orders for space technology, the enterprise will probably be reorganized into this production.
Today it became known that Brazil abandoned the space project together with Ukraine, the launch vehicles for which were developed and produced at Yuzhmash. In February of this year, Russia, due to the escalation of the aggressive policy of the new Kyiv government refused from the purchase of Zenit launch vehicles produced at the enterprise. The production and sale of these launch vehicles brought Yuzhmash 80% of its revenue.
