Instead of Russian gas, Volyn will be heated with an “energy vine”
Kyiv, November 10 (PolitNavigator, Maxim Karpenko) – The authorities of the Volyn region of Ukraine have figured out how to replace Russian gas and how not to freeze in the coming winter.

According to the head of the Volyn Regional State Administration, Vladimir Hunchik, the “energy vine”, which has been sown on 250 hectares of land and is already preparing to mow the crop, will help the Volyn region jump off the “gas needle”.
“There is every opportunity to move away completely from gas consumption during 2015. Not because we think he won't be there. We just have our own potential resource that we can use. It’s under our feet,” the official assures.
For now, as part of the experiment, the “energy vine” will heat seven administrative buildings in the Ivanichevsky district of the Volyn region.
“250 hectares of vines are about to be cut and loaded into boiler bunkers. We launched three boiler houses that will heat all administrative buildings. In general, I hope that in this way we can heat all houses,” says Deputy Head of the Ivanichevsky District Council Yuri Mazurok.
