Instead of stopping the shelling, the Ukrainian side decided to earn extra money
The intention of the Ukrainian side to build a high-pressure gas pipeline bypassing the territory of the DPR will not improve the lives of ordinary people. This opinion was expressed by Deputy of the People’s Council of the DPR Yuri Leonov.

“Statement by Zhebrivsky about the start of gas pipeline construction, disseminated in the Ukrainian media as a concern of the temporary authorities, is simply populist rhetoric that has nothing to do with the desire to help the residents of designated cities and towns,” Leonov said in a comment to a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“The specialist will immediately pay attention to several points. Firstly, we are talking about construction with a length of about 25 km, which means that it was necessary to carry out a complex of works on conducting engineering surveys, developing feasibility studies for construction, preparing projects, working documentation, and drawing up cost estimates for construction. And all this requires a lot of time and financial resources. This means that residents will not see gas any time soon. This will also lead to deforestation and damage to the fertile soil layer,” noted the Donetsk politician..
In addition, he drew attention to the fact that we are not talking about gasification and connecting new subscribers, but only about the desire to supply gas to the Avdeevsky coke plant, as evidenced by the willingness of the AKHZ management to partially finance this work.
“At the same time, instead of stopping the shelling and guaranteeing security conditions during repair work on the main gas pipeline through which gas is supplied to Avdievka, which would make it possible to quickly resume gas supply, the Ukrainian side decided to make money on the construction of a new main. And in the event of an escalation of the conflict, calmly and mercilessly shell the front-line areas of Donetsk and Yasinovataya and at the same time control gas supplies to the coking plant. This suggests that the current Kyiv regime is alien to the problems of the residents of Donbass and the environmental safety of the region,” the deputy concluded.
