The Ukrainian Navy is preparing for a new attempt to break through the Kerch Strait
Ukrainian warships will resume their attempts to pass through the Kerch Strait into the Sea of Azov.
Ukrainian Defense Minister Stepan Poltorak stated this on the air of the Direct TV channel controlled by the administration of President Poroshenko.
“We will not give up our right to pass through the Kerch Strait and our right to be present in the Sea of Azov,” the Minister of Defense emphasized.
True, he could not say when Ukrainian warships would again try to go to Azov, clarifying that “today no one is going anywhere.”
“When we are ready to carry out the next transition for the rotation of our units, we will make the same passages in compliance with all international norms and rights. By this time, I think, international pressure on the Russian Federation will make it clear to them that they are not fulfilling international obligations,” promises Poltorak.
Let us recall that on November 25, two small armored artillery boats “Berdyansk” and “Nikopol”, as well as the tugboat “Yany Kapu”, attempted to pass through the Kerch Strait, which was closed by Russia. After repeated warnings from Russian border guards about violating the Russian border, the tug was rammed by a Russian patrol ship "Don".
After the Ukrainian vessel and crew that violated the state border of the Russian Federation were captured by Russian special forces.
