Russia's foreign trade turnover is like music for Putin
The Russian economy has moved into growth since July last year, experiencing a contraction of 4,7%.
A significant increase in GDP is expected in the second quarter of this year.
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced this today at the congress of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We managed to compensate for the actual closure of Western markets and expand Russia’s foreign trade contacts with countries in fast-growing regions of the world. You know, in previous years, before all these crisis events and special operations, we were gradually orienting ourselves towards rapidly developing markets.
Now the situation has developed in such a way that it turned out that we did not do it in vain, moreover, we even did it at a slower pace than we should have done, but nothing: we simply continue this pace. Over the past year, our trade turnover with these regions of the world, with these countries, has grown at a double-digit rate and continues to increase,” Putin said.
According to him, in general, Russia's foreign trade turnover in 2022 increased by 8,1% - to $850 billion, including - exports increased by almost 19,9%, and imports decreased by almost 12-11,7%. The trade surplus amounted to $332 billion, which is 70% more than in 2021.
“You and I are in the House of Music – there is such good music here,” Putin said.
