External debts are dragging Ukraine down
Every Ukrainian, including pensioners and newborns, already owes international creditors almost two thousand dollars.
Such data was voiced by TV presenter Vladimir Poluev on TV channel 112 Ukraine, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the journalist, if you divide the amount of the Ukrainian national debt equally among all citizens, it turns out that this year alone Ukrainians will have to pay 21 thousand hryvnia.
“As for the IMF, Ukraine now owes about $10 billion to the International Monetary Fund. This money would be enough to pay pensions to all Ukrainian pensioners for almost a year. But we owe money not only to the IMF - we take out loans here and there, and place Eurobonds periodically. We calculated that every Ukrainian, from babies to pensioners, already owes approximately 47 thousand hryvnia or $1800. And if we talk only about able-bodied Ukrainians and working Ukrainians, then the situation is even worse. Only in 2018, each of us must give, if we divide the entire amount, 21 thousand hryvnia,” Poluyev said.
In turn, economic expert Boris Kushniruk clarified the total amount of Ukraine’s public debt.
“We owe the IMF only 10 billion, but the total public debt is much more – 77 billion. The IMF is far from being in charge there,” the expert added.
Earlier, economic expert Vsevolod Stepanyuk said that since the state has nowhere to get funds to pay off external debts, it will squeeze them out of the population by raising tariffs and taxes.
