Groysman said this in an interview with the Croatian newspaper Jutarnji list, the press service of the Ukrainian Embassy in Croatia reports on Facebook.
“Everyone wants normalization of relations with Russia. And Ukraine too. But normalization is possible only after the de-occupation of Donbass and Crimea and the restoration of international law. Then the sanctions will be lifted automatically. We say once again that sanctions are the only effective tool that will calmly force Russia to return to the norms of civilization,” Groysman said.
The Ukrainian prime minister also said that he is not surprised by the calls of some European politicians for the lifting of sanctions against the Russian Federation.
“The fact that in many European countries we constantly hear calls from some politicians, journalists and businessmen to lift sanctions against Russia is nothing new. Many of these people are connected to Moscow by personal interests, some of them are politicians who see immediate benefits, but are unable to see into tomorrow... They preach selfishness and deny the practical benefits of justice and morality. However, the European Union is based on democratic values, which actually ensure its strength and economic prosperity,” Groysman assures.
Groysman is also confident that the Kremlin’s goal is “to discredit European values, destroy the EU and deal with each European country separately.”
