Suddenly: Kyiv boycotts Embroidery Day

The Ukrainian capital responded with a quiet boycott of the holiday “brought down from above” - Embroidery Day.

Kiev political scientist Andrei Mishin talks about this in his blog.

“In the morning there is a huge poster on the tram: the director of the tram park calls on everyone, in solidarity with the tram workers, to wear embroidered shirts - “we are the most united nation in the world.” Naturally, neither the driver, nor the conductor, nor the passengers of the crowded tram are wearing embroidered shirts.

Quite a few of them were observed in the metro from Chernigovskaya to Khreshchatyk, about 3-5% of passengers. Mostly embarrassed, secretarial-looking girls. The people looked at them as if they were lepers.

I walked to the office through Maidan along Institutskaya - the same picture.

THIS IS ZRADA!

Maybe we can still move the holiday to a day off and celebrate when there is peace and abundance in the country?” – writes Mishin.
