Petro Poroshenko stated this again, this time following a meeting with Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras.
“Holding elections in occupied territory in the presence of occupying foreign forces is firmly and absolutely impossible. This is position one. Position two: you cannot compare the occupation of eastern Ukraine by the Russian army and the situation in the GDR,” Poroshenko’s press secretary Svyatoslav Tsegolko quotes him on Facebook.
Poroshenko still insists that “one of the conditions is the security component, which is in the middle of the road map to resolve the situation with Russian aggression.”
Let us remind you that German Ambassador Ernst Reichel said in an interview that elections in Donbass can be held without first ensuring security. Official Berlin supported the opinion of its ambassador and reminded Kyiv that the transfer of the border and disarmament are the last points in the Minsk agreements, and elections are ahead of them.
