Domestic tourism in Russia has returned to 2019 levels
The tourism industry in Russia is recovering from pandemic-related restrictions.
Vice-President of the Russian Union of Tourism Industry Yuri Barzykin stated this at a press conference in Moscow, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In 2021, in all areas – both domestic and foreign tourism – the indicators are significantly higher than last year. If we compare it with the pre-crisis period, then, of course, we are behind in outbound tourism – almost by half. But in a number of the highest priority and active internal areas, we have reached pre-Covid levels.
In the Krasnodar Territory, there may even be an excess of 5-10 percent. In Crimea, it is predicted that there will be about 8 million (tourists), in 2019 there were 7,4 million, last year – 6,3 million.
The Kaliningrad region is actively showing itself, charter programs have been launched there, it is planned to accept up to 2 million, but there were 1,3 million.
St. Petersburg, although it has lost a significant part of the incoming flow, has gained repeat visits; returning tourists provide fairly good statistics.
This year, a completely new direction to the North Caucasus opened; a tourist train began operating on May 1. I hope this trend will continue next year,” said Yuri Barzykin.
