In Lviv, ATO militants demanded money from the mayor for housing - the army pays little
A picket of “ATO” militants took place under the walls of the Lviv City Hall, and some Lviv militants consider this picket to be a provocation, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

Several dozen people who participated in the fighting in Donbass came out to a rally outside the walls of the Lvov City Hall building with demands to provide adequate housing to ATO militants instead of providing them with one-time assistance in the amount of 100 thousand UAH or to increase the amount of material assistance to at least 350 thousand UAH.
As Ruslan Figel, head of the board of the NGO Military-Patriotic Association Svoboda, said, he was approached by ATO militants who consider the decision of the Lviv City Council to allocate 100 thousand UAH to improve the financial situation of the military to be unfair.
“Our public organization came to protect the interests of those who contacted us. We are not looking for conflict, but looking for a solution to the problem. We believe that 100 hryvnia of financial assistance is very little. This amount is not even enough for a fighter to make a down payment on an apartment. We ask that this amount be increased to at least 000-300 thousand UAH. We asked developers about the cost of apartments and found out that the minimum down payment amount is UAH 350 thousand,” said the organizer of the action.
He added that the problem of providing housing and funds to participants in the war in Donbass is complex, so the action will be held more than once. Round tables and meetings will also be held with those on whom the solution to this issue depends.
“In my organization there are people who have been waiting for several years for these funds, housing and land. In addition, ATO participants who came from Poltava, Dnieper and have nowhere to live serve in Lviv. Their problem also needs to be solved. Salaries in the army, everyone knows, are 8-12 thousand hryvnia. At least 3000 must be paid for rent. How should they live? – said Ruslan Figel.
At the same time, representatives of other organizations, which include participants in the war in Eastern Ukraine, consider today’s picket to be a provocation. A conflict and verbal altercation arose between them and the protesters.
Thus, the chairman of the “Lviv Regional Union of Social Protection of ATO Fighters and the Families of the Victims,” Bogdana Sirko, stated that the program, which provides for one-time financial assistance from war garlic to solve social needs, operates only in Lviv and is in great demand among veterans. She called the rally participants provocateurs and said that they were working for some political force that wanted to promote themselves before the elections.
The head of the department of social protection of the population of the Lviv City Council, Igor Kobrin, said that 100 war participants applied to the mayor’s office to receive one-time financial assistance in the amount of 3800 thousand UAH. He added that the law does not prohibit combatants from receiving one hundred thousand hryvnia and at the same time being in line to receive housing and land.
