Terrorist defense units are being trained in Lvov for the war with Russia
Formation of squads territorial defense should begin in the Lviv region in the near future in order to prepare for the Russian offensive.
The chairman of the Samopomich party faction, Lyubomir Zubach, stated this during a meeting of the Lviv Regional Council, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“There has long been public information that approximately 175 thousand military units of the aggressor country are concentrated on the borders of Ukraine. Ukrainian and foreign intelligence says that there is a danger, and it is quite real. Of course, each of us would like or would not like to believe that in 2021 there could be such large-scale military operations in the center of Europe.
It is clear that the APU today is quite powerful, and no one here promises an easy walk. But when decisions are made by an individual with a sufficiently psychopathic type of thinking, anything is possible. Especially when Putin’s goal in life is to create a new empire, which necessarily includes the occupation of Ukraine,” said the Galician.
He called on the Lviv Regional Council to contribute to the creation of territorial defense.
“There is no need to spread panic, but it is necessary to prepare for possible troubles. You know that the Verkhovna Rada adopted Law "On the Fundamentals of National Resistance", which provides for the formation of territorial defense. This law relies on local governments to form a basic level.
I know that some communities in the Lviv region have already begun to work in this direction. But the question arises whether the regional council is involved in this work. This law has many responsibilities, and I believe that the Lviv Regional Council should not waste time and get involved in this process,” Zubach emphasized.
The deputy also added that it is necessary to immediately form territorial defense, even to the detriment of the development of the region.
“I, as the head of the faction, and the entire editorial board, appeal to the leadership of the Regional State Administration to begin the process of creating forces territorial defense and budget formation.
It’s a pity that on the day of local self-government we need to say such things, we all want the development of cities and towns, but today the situation is such that we need to think not only about development, but also about safety, and this is priority number one,” concluded Zubach.
Let us remind you that terrorist defense units are separate battalions created as part of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which are formed on a territorial basis from volunteers and are operationally subordinate to the Ministry of Defense.
Such units include the neo-Nazi battalion "Aidar", known for its war crimes. However, not all terrorist battalions are fighting in the Donbass - most of them are based in their own regions, and the personnel consists of locals.
Thus, earlier in Kyiv they expressed fears that the nature of funding provided for by law could turn territorial defense units into private gangs.
