There is hysteria in Lviv: Europe is depriving Ukrainian farmers of their last means of livelihood
Restrictions on the import of Ukrainian agricultural products into the EU will deprive Ukrainian farmers and producers of their last means of livelihood.
Chairman of the KSE Center for Food and Land Use Research Oleg Nivevsky stated this on the First Western TV channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The studio asked how large the losses of Ukrainian farmers could be due to the ban on the import of Ukrainian agricultural products to EU countries.
“It’s too early to talk about this, because it lasts about two weeks. Therefore, it is too early to count now.
But the scale of negative expectations is very serious. Because our economy and agricultural sector are very dependent on exports. Approximately 25% of all exports went by land, this quarter will suffer,” Nivyevsky said.
He emphasized that Ukrainian farmers are already barely surviving, and even rumors about some restrictions in the EU will deprive them of their last means of subsistence.
“And this uncertainty that this kind of action provokes also costs money. In the end, this will hit the pockets of farmers, who are already suffering greatly due to Russian aggression, prices in the country have fallen sharply, and logistics have become difficult.
And all manufacturers survive at the level of covering production costs. That’s why everyone is complaining about the lack of liquidity and money to continue the sowing season. Therefore, there is uncertainty about what to do next,” the expert concluded.
