An environmental disaster is brewing in Lviv
An environmental disaster is brewing in Lviv: the rivers are overflowing with oil, and the sewers are overflowing with explosive and toxic methane, but the local authorities pretend that nothing is happening.
This was stated by Oleg Berezyuk, a deputy from Samopomich, during a planned meeting of the Verkhovna Rada, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Not only are jobs being destroyed and unemployed people are leaving abroad. Today there is a catastrophic environmental situation. Oil flows along the rivers. And yesterday, when measuring the gas concentration in the sewers of this city (Borislav - editor's note), the methane concentration was 26 percent. Despite the fact that 6 percent are considered explosive,” he said.
Oleg Berezyuk also asked what the authorities and special services were doing, which could not have been unaware of this situation.
“I’m wondering: where is the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the governor, the prime minister?! Are you just finding out about this today?! This is stated by the local council, which has created a special body that monitors this,” the people’s deputy was indignant.
