The reason for the indignation of the Ukrainian politician was that on August 15, at the Lychakiv cemetery in Lviv, Polish diplomats and military personnel, a delegation of military personnel from the United States and representatives of Lviv city authorities honored the memory of the so-called Lviv eaglets, militiamen who defended Lviv during the war with the self-proclaimed Western Ukrainian People's Republic.
“These burials honor not just the memory of the Polish army, but those who illegally occupied the Western Ukrainian People's Republic in 1919, those who illegally engaged in mass murder of Ukrainians during the occupation of our western regions and those who actually liquidated our statehood in the Galician lands,” – Mikhalchishin was indignant.
According to him, based on this logic, the dead DPR commanders “Givi” and “Motorola” can be considered the same eaglets, since “both of them were enemies of Ukrainian statehood.”
True, the nationalist paid tribute to the Lviv military garrison, the National Guard, the SBU, the regional council and the regional administration, whose representatives ignored the event, which the deputy mayor of Lviv, Moskalenko, honored with his presence.
“That is, in fact, there was a celebration by the local government of the memory of the Polish occupiers and aggressors. As for US military personnel, there are no complaints against them, since, of course, due to their general historical knowledge, they do not very well understand what happened here and in general in the territories of Central and Eastern Europe 100 years ago,” believes Mikhalchyshyn.
He also recalled that the memory of the Polish President (1926 - 1939) Ignacy Moscicki is immortalized in Lviv, who, according to Mikhalchyshyn, opened the second concentration camp in Europe, where about five thousand Ukrainians were kept, and is involved in the “genocide of the indigenous Ukrainian population.”
In addition, he stated that before making claims to the UPA for Volyn, the Poles must bear responsibility for the representatives of their people involved in the creation of the Cheka - OGPU.
