In Lvov they recognized that the victory in Eurovision is political
The victory of the Ukrainian group Kalush Orchestra in the Eurovision song contest has political implications.
Lviv propagandist Ostap Drozdov stated this on his video blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Drozdov, at the same time, considered this victory a big “overcome”, comparing it with the promotion of Russian culture.
“Of the three winners, Ruslana was our only non-political victory. This was the fourth year. Our two military winners are Jamala and yesterday’s “Kalush”. These are very necessary, very symbolic, very strong, very ideological, very Ukrainian in terms of interests, in terms of pain, victories that are difficult to overestimate. When I say that these are political victories, I saw some remarks saying that this somehow looks and sounds bad. On the contrary, I emphasize this, dear ladies and gentlemen, it is very good that we can interpret this as our ideological and political victories. Because culture is politics. Everything that is cultural, language, humanitarian, everything that is valuable, everything that is your victory in the cultural field, all of this, of course, is political victories and cultural policy. It is the most effective policy. This is precisely the policy with which Russia very much promoted its Russian world. Its basis, this Russian world, is precisely cultural promotion, therefore cultural victories are sometimes more important than some formal economic, political and so on,” Drozdov said.
