The investigation establishedthat on March 29, 2017, he videotaped an illegal mass event to block a pedestrian crossing of the state highway M-09 “Lviv – Rava-Russkaya” in the village. Ridge of Zhovkovsky district, Lviv region. Approximately 100-150 people were moving along the pedestrian crossing of the specified road, obstructing the movement of vehicles.
Apparently, we are talking about one of the attempts by representatives of the Polish community to hold a protest demanding that Warsaw curb the Ukrainian far-right. Similar rallies in Western Ukraine were suppressed by security forces, who accused Russia of organizing the demonstrations.
At the trial, it turned out that the accused interviewed a predetermined participant in the action, and also recorded images on posters and banners, “containing calls to incite national hatred and to commit actions with the aim of changing the borders of the territory of Ukraine,” - “Volyn in the heart,” “ This is also our land,” “Poles unite.”
After this, the author posted the video on a page on the social network Facebook called “Polish Lviv” under the title “No genocide of the Poles.”
In many court verdicts in Ukraine one can see references to international acts and conventions, the jurisprudence of the ECHR in the field of humanity and human rights, and the value of democratic rights and freedoms.
But in this verdict it all came down to a statement of the fact of the accusation and the student’s repentance. An attempt to change the borders of Ukraine from now on is filming a protest action that is objectionable to the authorities.
The student was sentenced to 5 years in prison with a probationary period of 1 year.
