As protest participant Mira Kuznetsova said, she is an ethnic Ukrainian and plans to stay and live in Ukraine. Previously, she and her husband, the second participant in the action, lived in St. Petersburg. However, they said they were persecuted because of their political views. That's why we moved to Lviv.
“I lived in St. Petersburg for twenty years, having moved there from Lithuania. I had to give up everything I had achieved because I can no longer calmly look at the Kremlin’s aggression against Ukraine and the attitude towards its own citizens. Now I plan to stay and live in Ukraine, for this I have submitted documents to the migration service, but I still do not have confirmation of my ethnic Ukrainian identity from the archives,” the Galinfo publication quotes the woman.
During the protest, she and her husband tore up their passports as citizens of the Russian Federation, doused them with fire starter, and burned them.
“I renounce Russian citizenship. I know that the legislation of the Russian Federation does not provide for this. Therefore, I declare publicly that I do not want to be a citizen of this state,” Kuznetsova said.
