Participants of the coordination council under the Lvov regional council decided to appeal to the mayor of Lvov Andrey Sadovoy and the head of the regional police department Dmitry Zagariya with a demand to prevent provocations in Lvov on May 9.
As Lviv City Council deputy Lyubomir Melnichuk noted, the only thing that can ban the protests is a lawsuit by city mayor Andrei Sadovyi in court.
“He (Sadova – editor’s note) could have banned the parade of embroidered shirts, but he did not go to court with a demand to ban it. For several years now, I have been spending the night of May 9 in court, and in the morning I go to see that no one touches the veterans,” Galinfo quoted Melnichuk as saying.
Activists decided to demand that Sadovoy and Zagariya file a lawsuit demanding a ban on marches through the city using Soviet symbols on May 9.
Representatives of public organizations also stated that they intend to reformat May Day.
“A number of public organizations are planning to organize the Old Hoe Festival in Lviv on May 1 and 2. All the drones that don’t work walk around with ribbons and flags,” said local activist Andrei Rozhnyatovsky.
He explained that traditionally, since the Verkhovna Rada did not cancel the weekend on May 1 and 2, people work in their garden plots, rather than walking around with flags.
We would like to remind you that on April 27, in Lvov, despite protests from a number of public organizations, a March of embroidered shirts was held in honor of the anniversary of the SS division “Galicia”.
