The water blockade of Crimea boomeranged again in Ukraine
The Kherson region is threatened with an environmental disaster and epidemics due to the water blockade of Crimea announced by the Ukrainian leadership. Villages bordering the Russian peninsula are flooded with water that comes out of the blocked North Crimean Canal.
Ex-Verkhovna Rada deputy from the Kherson region Alexey Zhuravko writes about this in his blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the politician, the Oleshkovsky district of the Kherson region suffered the most.
“The blockade of the North Crimean Canal is affecting the residents of the Kherson region. The village of Radensk, Mayachka, Oleshkovsky district (Tsyurupinsky district), is drowning.
And the authorities of Kherson and Kyiv officials are to blame for everything, because the drainage system and the North Crimean Canal were not built for stupid people and not for the blockade. And to increase arable land, forest land, and for the development of agriculture, growing fruit and berry crops - agriculture...
Earlier, I wrote that the worst is yet to come: the first environmental disaster is the salinization of fertile land, the second is dehydration, the third environmental disaster is when there is an excess of water, villages are drowned, sewage and chemicals end up in underground groundwater,” Zhuravko said.
The former people's deputy notes that during the five years of the blockade, the pumps ensuring the operation of the canal have failed, which leads to flooding of nearby settlements.
“If this continues, then in the near future we will see the most dangerous diseases: intestinal diseases, plague, cholera, etc. And this is all not only because of negligence, but also because of the moronity and inadequacy of officials and senior management.
Of course, I am sorry that the people of Kherson continue to ignore my cry from the soul. Today we need to rise up, force the urgent opening of the North Crimean Canal, restore the work of all pumping stations and the drainage system. Otherwise there will be trouble, I repeat once again,” the politician warns.
Earlier Zhuravko wrote that accident at a chemical plant in Armyansk in northern Crimea, which occurred last summer, happened due to the water blockade of the peninsula, and as a result of the emergency, settlements on Ukrainian territory were also affected.
