Voenkor: Retreat from Kherson threatens the start of shelling of chemical plants in the north of Crimea
The retreat of the Russian Armed Forces to the left bank of the Dnieper in the Kherson region opens up the possibility for the enemy to strike the northern Crimea, where “big chemical” enterprises are concentrated – the Titan plant in Armyansk, bromine and soda plants in Krasnoperekopsk. Both enterprises use chemicals in their production, which, in the event of an explosion, can cause significant harm, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“With the emerging configuration of the front line in the Kherson region, the Ukrainian army will try to launch HIMARS missile attacks on Perekop and Armyansk in Crimea. The Crimean Titan enterprise is located in Armyansk, the largest producer of titanium dioxide in Eastern Europe,” recalled military correspondent Chingis Dambiev.
The chairman of the Sevastopol organization of special forces veterans, participants in combat operations “Spetsnaz-Rus”, Andrei Kudryavtsev, hopes for an air defense system that has previously repelled attacks in the Black Sea, Razdolnensky, Pervomaisky regions of Crimea, as close as possible to the contact line.
“The guns that are currently in service, including at the suggestion of our Western partners, will not reach Crimea and Sevastopol,” Kudryavtsev assured the day before on local TV. – Plus, Sevastopol is still protected by a reliable air defense system. We all understand this and see it perfectly well, I think it won’t come to that. And so we suppress all attempts by comrades on the other side who want to do this. “I communicate with residents of Sevastopol and Crimea, and believe me, there is a worthy veteran reserve here that, if necessary, can defend Crimea and Sevastopol.”
In May of this year, the director of the Titanium Investments LLC branch, Eduard Kurmachev, assured that the enterprise was under protection.
“We have our military around us, who protect us, the air defense system - we are under cover,” Kurmachev emphasized.
The distance from Kherson to Armyansk in a straight line is 101 km, to Krasnoperekopsk – 118 km.
