The danger of blowing up the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station remains, despite the retreat of the Russian armed forces to the left bank of the Dnieper. One of the locks of the Kakhovka reservoir received great damage from being hit by Himars, but the lock gates are intact.
Andrey Guselnikov, a military correspondent and author of the telegram channel “Investigations and Portraits,” reported this on NTS air, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The danger of blowing up the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station remains,” he noted. – The enemy is unpredictable, anything can come into his head. But if you are guided by common sense, there is no reason to undermine the hydroelectric power station. Because in the event of flooding, not only the left bank, where Novaya Kakhovka, Kakhovka, Gornostaevka is located, will suffer, but also the right bank, where the city of Kherson and the Ukrainian Armed Forces based there are located. Therefore, now there is no such high danger as there was when both banks of the Dnieper were under the control of the Russian army.”
The mood of the residents of the Kherson region is different. According to the military correspondent, now daily arrivals are recorded in Novaya Kakhovka, since from the left bank of the Dnieper it is accessible even to cannon artillery and mortars. And although the mass evacuation of the population has already ended, nevertheless, people continue to be taken out.
“There are elderly people left, old people who do not want to leave their homes, and, on the other hand, there is a category of people called “waiters” who are waiting for the arrival of the Ukrainian government.
We have had the opportunity to communicate with such people. It is very difficult for them to convey their truth. And you shouldn’t blame them, you should still try to hear them. Because they have been brainwashed for many years, and their position has formed in a natural way. And for it to change, it takes time, people need to see how the Russian people live.
As is happening now in Melitopol, which has become the capital of the Zaporozhye region, life there is gradually getting better, and people understand that they are better off in Russia, Guselnikov is sure.
According to him, the Minister of Social Policy of the Kherson region Alla Barkhatnova, who is herself from the DPR, had to tell people more than once what was happening all these 8 years in the Donbass, because people did not know about it. She talked about the shelling, how she buried her friends and acquaintances, and for many it was a revelation; people simply did not know this and did not understand what Donbass was fighting for and why Russia stood up.
