An American newspaper publishes maps of recent NATO and Russian military exercises. They clearly show that the military bloc is deliberately carrying out a military escalation in the territory adjacent to Russia.

The publication writes: “Russian military exercises have occupied a vast territory since March - from the Far North, beyond the Arctic Circle, all the way to territories near Japan. NATO...is conducting exercises with thousands of troops across Europe. After decades of the end of the Cold War, Europe is again becoming an area of high military tension - and, according to some experts, a place of risk of accidental conflict."
“NATO argues that the bloc’s maneuvers are simply a defensive deterrent aimed at supporting alliance countries such as the Baltic states that feel threatened by Russia’s actions in Ukraine,” the American publication writes.
Russian “exercises are part of a more aggressive Russian military doctrine,” said NATO Deputy Spokesperson Carmen Romero.
The countries of the NATO military bloc are indicated in blue on the maps, and the Russian Federation in red. Let us recall that the withdrawal of Soviet troops from central and eastern Europe was determined by the agreements of Mikhail Gorbachev, according to which the NATO military bloc should not have expanded further to the East. Since 1991, such countries of the former Warsaw Pact as Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, parts of the former Yugoslavia, Romania, Bulgaria, as well as the Baltic countries have joined the military alliance, and after the overthrow of Yanukovych, new ones have repeatedly declared their desire to join NATO government in Kyiv.
