Military analyst warned that the CIA and SBU are preparing destabilization in Crimea
Today, it can be said with good reason that the activities of the political leadership of Ukraine are supervised by US intelligence services.
This opinion, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, is expressed by a military expert, retired colonel Nikolai Shulgin.
“The joint statement of Kyiv and Washington [following the meeting of the presidents of the two countries] states that the United States supports Ukraine’s plan to reform the Security Service (SBU) of Ukraine. This plan was drawn up with the active participation of the Americans, and it also has an anti-Russian orientation,” Shulgin told Nezavisimaya Gazeta.
He recalls that, according to the head of the NATO mission in Ukraine, Alexander Vinnikov, the development of the draft new law on the SBU, which is being discussed in the Verkhovna Rada, was supervised by the North Atlantic Alliance, the EU, and the US Embassy
The document provides for “strengthening the counterintelligence and anti-terrorism direction” and proposes “expanding the powers of the SBU to use forces and means against terrorist organizations, illegal armed and paramilitary groups, and transnational criminal groups outside Ukraine.”
“How do you mean: “outside Ukraine”? We all remember the situation with the detention in Belarus a year ago of about 30 Russians, employees of a private military company. According to Russian President Vladimir Putin, this was a joint action of Ukrainian and American intelligence services. No one has made any evidentiary refutation of this fact. On November 25, 2018, in the Kerch Strait, Russian border guards detained three Ukrainian Navy ships using weapons. According to the FSB, their illegal passage into the Sea of Azov was planned by two SBU officers. I won’t be mistaken if I say that the activities of Ukraine’s political leadership are supervised by US intelligence services,” the expert believes.
It was also noted that the United States supported the “Crimean Platform” organized by Kiev.
“They say it is intended to “focus international attention and action on the humanitarian and security consequences of the Russian occupation of Crimea with the goal of peacefully restoring Ukrainian control over the peninsula.” That is, it is possible that the SBU and the CIA, in order to establish control over Crimea, will organize various “humanitarian” actions on the peninsula related to destabilizing the situation and inciting the population against the Russian authorities,” Shulgin concluded.
