Military analyst, director of the Center for Comprehensive European and International Studies at the National Research University Higher School of Economics Vasily Kashin said this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In a relatively short time, if everything goes according to a positive scenario, it will be possible to finally liberate the territories of the LPR and DPR. It is hoped that this will take several weeks. After the completion of this operation, opportunities will open up in other directions,” the expert told Izvestia.
According to him, the scale of what happened can be assessed after it becomes known which Ukrainian troops were encircled in the Gorsky-Zolote area and how much heavy weapons they will lose.
“Until the last moment, the Ukrainian command threw new weapons and reinforcements into the Lisichansk area, rather than accumulating them. Now this can work against them as they will lose the maximum. The loss of hastily trained terrorist defense battalions can still be compensated for, but there is no one to replace regular, well-trained units. This will cost Ukraine very dearly,” says Kashin.
