A military expert revealed the purpose of Ukrainian provocations on the border with Transnistria
Ukraine will not dare to commit a major provocation on the border with Transnistria, since history knows how attacks on Russian peacekeepers end.
Military expert Alexey Leonkov stated this on the YouTube channel “Sputnik in Russian,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
"I think this is an operation (Ukrainian nationalist battalions began patrolling the border with Transnistria – ed.) to divert attention, because the main attention is the East of Ukraine, more precisely, the Donbass zone, where the LPR and DPR are located. These are the zones that are now under the close attention of our Ministry of Defense,” Leonkov said.
He explained why he believes that Ukraine will not risk carrying out provocations on the border with Transnistria.
“You need to understand that there are Russian peacekeepers there – that’s it. And secondly, our peacekeepers are protected by our army and navy, and an attempt to do something with our peacekeepers - we need to remember how it happened in August 2008, how it ended.
Therefore, if these Ukrainian terrorist battalions try to do something, it will be a direct confrontation with Russia, that is, in fact, a direct military clash. At the parliamentary level they have already called the enemies with whom they are fighting, well, there is only one step left to make this a reality.
I think this is a distraction - it may even be picked up by some of the world’s media, but in fact the main targets are along the line of combat contact, where the defenders of Donbass hold their defenses,” the military expert concluded.
