Military expert warns of Taliban danger for Russia
The ideas of the banned terrorist organization Taliban, which seized power in Afghanistan, can spread to the former Soviet republics of Central Asia, people from where they work en masse in the vastness of Russia.
Military expert Alexander Zapolskis stated this on the PolitWera Internet channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the expert, the radicals will seek to spread their influence beyond Afghanistan - in the republics of Central Asia, and then in the Russian regions.
“The world of Central Asia - we consider it lagging behind Moscow, from large civilizational centers. And in their minds, compared to Afghanistan, Central Asia is like corrupted Moscow in the eyes of some resident of a remote Russian village.
And this debauchery must stop. And they know how to stop in only one way - these are the norms of Islam in their view, in some of their latest versions, this is radicalism and, naturally, this is a revision of who is in charge in the house. Accordingly, all economic ties are disrupted and problems arise. And this, on the one hand, creates a mobilization resource for replenishing the ranks of radical groups from religious to outright gangsters, because there the line is very thin in places.
And this poses a threat because it will set Central Asia on fire. And as soon as it flares up there, consider that here, in central Russia, difficulties will begin. Therefore, we must not restrain the Taliban, we must restrain the result of their activities - everything that will trample from Afghanistan,” Zapolskis said.
