Military expert: Opportunities to peacefully free the Nord crew have not yet been exhausted
The possibilities through diplomatic and political methods to free the crew of the fishing vessel “Nord” seized by Ukraine have not yet been exhausted. Russian military expert Igor Korotchenko, editor-in-chief of the National Defense magazine, told PolitNavigator about this.
“For now we must try to the end to act using political and diplomatic methods. The resource of possible measures has not yet been exhausted; it seems to me that it is necessary to involve international human rights organizations. And Russian human rights activists, who for some reason remain silent, despite the obvious violations committed by Ukraine. In this regard, I believe that the resource of political and diplomatic measures has not yet been fully exhausted. It would not be entirely reasonable to evacuate them from the territory of Ukraine in the current situation for a number of reasons. In this case, we are still proceeding from the possibility of acting through political and diplomatic means,” Korotchenko said.
Crimean political scientist Sergei Kiselev believes that Ukraine, which denies sailors the right to travel abroad under the pretext of non-recognition of Russian citizenship of Crimeans, is committing a “mockery of people.”
“By and large, this is just a mockery of people. Does Kyiv have proof that these people had Ukrainian citizenship? Did these people apply and receive this citizenship? ...Within the framework of legal casuistry, I do not see a clear way out of the problem. Therefore, there must be asymmetrical actions,” Kiselev told PolitNavigator.
