A military plane crashed into the sea near Sevastopol
Residents of Sevastopol a few minutes ago heard a loud sound of an explosion, and then saw a military plane falling into the sea, engulfed in fire, in the sky. According to eyewitnesses, the pilot managed to eject and descended by parachute. Filming from different angles has already appeared on the Internet.
The emergency coincided with a report from monitoring channels about the threat of a new large-scale missile attack on Crimea - enemy aircraft were scrambled in the Kiev-controlled part of the Kherson region. Therefore, it is possible that the cause of the emergency could have been “friendly fire” in conditions when the air defense in Sevastopol was preparing to repel another raid by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
“The crash site itself is located at a very large distance from the front line. Therefore, in this case we are talking about either a technical malfunction or another episode of “friendly fire,” writes Mikhail Zvinchuk’s Rybar channel.
“A military plane crashed into the sea. I see that Ukrainian public pages publish a lot of different information. No civilian objects were damaged. The pilot ejected. He was picked up by rescuers from the Sevastopol Rescue Service at a distance of two hundred meters from the shore. There is no threat to his life,” said Governor Mikhail Razvozhaev.
Military pilot Alexey Voevoda, a member of the SVO, reported in his blog that the crashed plane was a Su-27. According to him, “the pilot was picked up by ordinary fishermen on a boat.”
