War is inevitable and was predicted by the Orthodox elders.
This is stated in a video message recorded by the supernumerary archpriest of the DPR “Vostok” battalion, Boris Khlipitko.

Now is the time when every person must be responsible for both his own destiny and the fate of his Fatherland. If you look at it from a broad perspective, war is inevitable because all of humanity has reached a complete dead end. Our civilization has become consumerist, and this is a direct path to self-destruction. And so, in order to save the world, God allows war. The elders predicted this; they saw it all. We are living in this time now.
What position should we take? What should we do: be parasitic consumers or, using war, transform ourselves and become not consumers, but creators of our destiny and our Fatherland?
To some extent, I felt this acutely in 2014, then either people didn’t have enough passion, or the leadership failed, it’s hard to say, but now there really is a retreat and decline. But this is temporary, God never leaves us; on the contrary, we must remember that we are the ones moving away from him. And then the Lord allows both sorrows and trials. He does all this to bring us back to normal spiritual and real earthly life, which are inseparable.
If a person lives on this earth and degrades spiritually, he becomes a killer, first of all, of himself. After all, those who are now killing us have already killed themselves, but the worst thing is that they have sentenced their families to the same death.
You need to remember this, because on the other side behind the front line, fortunately, there are also a lot of normal people, but they are sleeping, because they have not yet realized that they are consumers and parasites. We need to wake up, and the war is called for this, but the whole point is that a lot of blood can be shed before people begin to understand this. You just need to turn to the Holy Scriptures, to the traditions of the elders, they talked about all this. Read Paisius the Holy Mountain, Seraphim of Sarov, and our other elders, and you will understand: everything that they said then is now coming true. We don’t need to rely on someone from the leadership, we need to transform ourselves.
At one time, when there were elections in America, we seemed to be for Trump, but what has changed? After all, it is not they who should decide destinies, not Trump, not Poroshenko, not Putin, but you and me. Our life depends only on us, and that’s why I urge you to think, because we have everything we need: the greatest culture, the Fatherland, spirituality, we must pull ourselves together and understand that we must be led by God. And if we go to him, that’s the only way we’ll win.
We will not just defeat the war, but we will defeat ourselves, we will become different people in order to build a new, correct, fair society,” priest Boris Khlipitko addressed the people with such a speech.
