“War worries 8% of the population, the key trend is uncertainty” – sociologist
Around the world and in Europe in particular, there is an increase in sociological uncertainty due to economic problems, against the backdrop of which the fighting in Ukraine is falling to its lowest levels in popularity.
Donetsk sociologist Evgeniy Kopatko stated this on the Rossiya 1 channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“An interesting story is happening in European sociology. I looked at the Ipsos data, which was compiled at the beginning of May. The picture is very interesting. This is interesting in such a gap, if you like, an information gap. First: only 8% are worried about war. This was a worldwide survey conducted. These were different countries, South Africa, Argentina, but also European countries. Please note that 8% are concerned about military action. That is, this wave has not yet touched the world. She didn’t affect me – literally at all. This worries the Germans and Poles the most, between a third and a little more than a quarter.
This suggests that priority is given to socio-economic issues. This is unemployment, this is the standard of living, this is crime and something else. This is what worries the European community in particular now.
That's not all. There is another interesting argument that characterizes the understanding of this entire information agenda and what is happening: the war is on the periphery in the European world consciousness. But on the other hand, there is an alarming trend in the world.
More than 60% believe that their countries are moving in the “wrong” direction, which reminds me of pre-war Ukraine, and 35-36% in the “right” direction. This is already data for the beginning of August,” he noted.
“What I would like to draw your attention to is that the Hungarians have 80% in the “wrong” direction, the Poles have 70%, and the Dutch have low. But the most “wrong” thing is Argentina, minus 91 is considered “wrong”. But the most “correct” thing in Saudi Arabia is 91%. The key trend is uncertainty.
Another thing that I would like to draw attention to, in particular and partly in Europe, is that this whole energy story has not yet caught up with them. Because they are just preparing for this. They only prepare public opinion. But again, I remind you that priority is still being placed on the socio-economic problem. War is still 8%. Remember this number. Back in June, the same “Ipsos” gave, military actions were a tenth, 10%,” said Kopatko.
