The newspaper reports that due to conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East, with the outbreak of Ebola in Africa, prices on the so-called second hand clothing market fell by 20%. This was stated by the representative of the Federal Association of Recycling and Recycling, Ilona Schaefer.
The price was affected by traffic turmoil and unsafe delivery of used clothing from Germany to target countries. The association considers market development in 2015 unlikely.
Due to an oversupply of used clothing, German stores are forced to reduce the price for their own customers. “The Germans annually sort and donate,” reports Die Welt, “about 750 tons of textiles from their closets. BоThe majority is sold mainly in the markets of Eastern Europe and Africa. The industry’s turnover, according to experts, is about 300 million euros.”
