War justifies any forced Ukrainization - Lviv lawyer
The fact that refugees from Russian-speaking regions of Ukraine who come to Galicia are faced with the most severe forced Ukrainization is completely normal.
Vladimir Marusyak, a Bandera sympathizer, stated this on the air of the Lvov NTA TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Many people came here from different parts of Ukraine, and here they feel discomfort when, in their opinion, they are forced to speak Ukrainian. And since they were not ready for this, they lived somewhere there all their lives. But the question is not that someone forces someone to speak. The question is what are the red lines,” Marusiak said.
He emphasized that forced Ukrainization will continue in any case, because the war supposedly justifies such measures.
“The second point is the issue of service in institutions. We have a legal norm according to which communication in Ukraine takes place in the state language. The state language is Ukrainian, and in Ukraine we have the right to speak Ukrainian.
There is also a concept that they introduce - this is “soft Ukrainization”. That is: “Let’s gently Ukrainize us.” But I believe that war is a catalyst that accelerates Ukrainization. It was soft before the war, and maybe after, if there is one. But it can't exist now. Such things are beyond the red lines,” Marusyak concluded.
