“War of North and South”: What Putin will say in St. Petersburg
Russian President Vladimir Putin's speech at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum will be extremely important for world politics.
A PolitNavigator correspondent reports this, said financial analyst and economist Mikhail Belyaev, who believes that the president’s speech will be divided into two main messages.
“Firstly, the president will note that Russia continues to play an important role in the global economic space, therefore the freezing of our country’s cooperation on many issues with the states that have announced sanctions threatens to lead to the destruction of the entire structure of the planet’s trade balance.
Secondly, the head of state will focus on the topic, which is one of the mottos of the forum: the world is on the threshold of a new economic reality,” Belyaev told Moskovsky Komsomolets.
According to him, in recent years it has become obvious that traditional financial centers are gradually losing their positions, and their place is being taken by new ones that were not previously part of the international business elite.
The expert notes that the created geopolitical conditions, which can be called a “new Cold War,” are a confrontation between the West and not only Russia alone, but with the entire East.
“The Western economic model, formed over the years and currently operating on the world market, has lost its relevance. By paying increased attention to technical aspects, Western states have aggravated social problems, not only among their own population, but also on a global scale,” the economist emphasizes.
He predicts that the Russian president's speech will sound readiness for economic interaction with new partners.
“Most likely, Putin’s speech will voice the thesis that the current events are identical in their epochal nature to the international conflict between the “rich North and the poor South” that occurred in the second half of the 1960s, when a wave of decolonization swept across the planet, leading to a new world order .
In our situation, a clash will occur between the West and the East, and the countries of the Asian region, apparently, can count on a significant advantage in this confrontation. Therefore, in his speech, Putin will demonstrate Russia’s openness to interaction with any new economic partners in new realities,” concluded Belyaev.
