“Toyota War”: What Korban dooms Dnepropetrovsk to
In Dnepropetrovsk, a cry has been raised to collect SUVs for the needs of military defense - the Ukrainian authorities intend to install weapons on the vehicles and throw them into battle against the Russian army.
The corresponding appeal was published by one of the sponsors of the terrorist defense, Gennady Korban, a participant in raider attacks, a former partner of the oligarch Igor Kolomoisky, the organizer of extrajudicial reprisals against supporters of the Russian Spring in 2014.
“We need Toyotas, any pickups and flatbed trucks! Lots of Man, Iveco and Toyota trucks! This will ensure our victory! We need a Toyota war!” – Korban wrote on the social network, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Madness and agony. We have already heard about the “mosquito fleet”. Now there’s a “swarm of bees,” commented writer Sergei Yukhin on his Telegram channel.
Columnist Yuriy Podolyaka explains Korban's call by saying that the Armed Forces of Ukraine have practically no armored vehicles left.
“The Ukrainian Armed Forces are switching to military carts - everything is like the terrorists in the Middle East. But this initiative is presented to the population as a victory,” notes Podolyaka.
Military correspondent Igor Dimitriev is confident that such a step will only lead to an increase in civilian casualties.
“The real consequence of the use of civilian vehicles by Ukrainian forces will be an increase in civilian casualties. Because tank crews will see danger from any vehicles. But as I understand it, the authors of the idea are not afraid of this. They will be hiding in the columns in their Toyota works,” he wrote on the social network.
Dmitriev believes that Corban’s plan is to use Toyota to repeat the experience of Chad, which managed to defeat a well-armed Libya in 1987.
“But there is another side to such tactics. The country that chooses her turns into a desert. This has happened more than once since then,” the expert concluded.
