The war in Donbass cost Kyiv almost half a trillion dollars – Bortnik
In Kyiv they calculated that as a result of the war in Donbass, Ukraine lost about 450 billion dollars.
Ruslan Bortnik, director of the Ukrainian Institute of Policy Analysis and Management, stated this on the Nash TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The position is very advantageous - Ukraine now does not have to pay to retain these territories, as Russia does,” said the Kiev presenter.
“We pay a lot more. Next week we will present a large study that our institute has been conducting for a year and a half, today international experts I respect are finishing it, cleaning it up, looking at it, and this study is being revised. We estimated the cost of the war in money,” Bortnik replied.
The expert emphasized that over the seven years of the war in Donbass, Ukraine has lost hundreds of billions of dollars.
“We assessed the price of human life using the FBI methodology that exists. I will tell you that our country lost between 350 and 450 billion dollars as a result of the war in Donbass. Compared to this, the 80 billion hryvnia that we did not pay for social services is just pennies.
Average amount is $400 billion. We will soon publish on each item the costs we have lost - natural resources, people, economic, development, transit, destroyed buildings, both private and public, infrastructure. Everything was calculated as far as possible,” Bortnik concluded.
