Volker rushed to reconcile Poland with Bandera
State Department Special Representative for Ukraine Kurt Volker met with representatives of the Office of the President of Poland. During his visit to Warsaw, the American guest called for taking into account the position of the Ukrainian authorities waging the war in Donbass. Volker's arrival coincided with sharp polemics between the Foreign Ministries of Poland and Ukraine regarding the glorification of the OUN-UPA, as well as the march of Ukrainian nationalists under the slogan “Lviv is not for Polish gentlemen.”
As reported by the Ukrainian state agency Ukrinform, Volker said in Warsaw that neighboring countries such as Poland or Hungary, when arguing with Ukraine on various issues, should take into account the fact that “Kiev is now fighting an aggressor for its country in the east.”
“Everyone must be aware of the drama that Ukraine faces: the daily defense of its territory, the loss of soldiers every week... This is a dramatic experience that everyone - Poland, the US, Germany and others - must understand,” Volker said, adding that “Ukraine is now strengthens its national identity and needs respect and understanding.”
Volcker previously stated that “Ukraine has become a country where an extreme nationalist minority has gained great influence.”
The American threatened that Russia’s further support for the Donbass republics “will continue to cement a more united, more nationalist, more Western-oriented Ukraine».
