Volker and Surkov are holding tough but meaningful negotiations
The Surkov-Volker negotiations have become the main format for resolving the conflict in Donbass, since the work of the contact group in Minsk is blocked by Ukraine, and the participants of the “Normandy format” are solving their internal political problems, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

Director of the Center for Political Conjuncture Aleksey Chesnakov stated this today at a press conference in Moscow.
The Normandy format passed the baton to the Russian-American Surkov-Volker track. The parties are optimistic about the current dynamics of the negotiation process. These are tough negotiations, but meaningful,” Chesnakov said.
According to him, during these negotiations Russia very firmly defends the provisions contained in the resolution that it submitted to the UN Security Council.
“The broad mandate of the peacekeeping mission, which is proposed by the American side, practically puts an end to the Minsk agreements and the peaceful settlement in Donbass. With a broad mandate, the interests of all parties to the conflict, first of all, the residents of Donbass, will not be taken into account,” Chesnakov said.
