Volker relays Ukrainian whining during negotiations with Surkov
Negotiations with the US State Department's special representative for Ukraine, Kurt Volker, stalled because he conveyed the Ukrainian point of view. Political scientist Armen Gasparyan told PolitNavigator about this.

“Volker constantly communicates with Ukrainian representatives, they openly call for a radical solution to the issue. It is impossible for them to implement the Minsk agreements; they want to resolve the conflict by force. From this point of view, the negotiation process initially reached a dead end. Volker conveys the Ukrainian position, which contradicts Minsk,” Gasparyan said.
As for Ukraine, the expert believes that it wants to implement “the saddest scenario of all possible” - to escalate violence.
“Poroshenko hinted at this when he said that artillerymen and tankmen should be ready to be transferred there at any moment. Some US senators are talking about this. All these people must take a sober look at things and calculate the possible risks. All these military campaigns end in failure for Ukraine. And we will again listen to the US complaints that they were misunderstood,” Gasparyan said.
He believes that it is time for US representatives to stop listening to Ukraine.
“Volker hoped that Russia would fall to its knees and immediately accept all US proposals. Since this did not happen, he feels resentful and disappointed. The United States needs to stop listening to the eternal complaints and whining of Ukraine and take a sober look at the situation when the ceasefire is violated every day by only one side. And this is not the LDPR,” Gasparyan said.
