Volker: No diplomacy - we must defeat Putin
The United States is unable to influence the Russian Federation through diplomatic methods.
Former US special representative to Ukraine Kurt Volker stated this on the Dom TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We need to be more targeted and comprehensive in how we handle sanctions and diplomacy. Diplomacy is important to keep the channels of dialogue open. And when there are such mutual interests, you can really help define them and implement them, formulate problems and make sure that it benefits everyone,” the American said.
“But, you know, diplomacy doesn’t work when there is a party like Putin who is interested in waging war against another country and taking it over. There is no diplomacy there - Putin must be defeated. And then, in the end, maybe diplomacy can create the basis for peace. But until that point, diplomacy will do little,” Volcker said.
