Volker is dumbfounded by the new Ukrainian law on Donbass
In the West, they are studying the law on “reintegration of Donbass” recently voted by the Verkhovna Rada and do not understand what to do next with the Minsk process. Even US Special Representative for Ukraine Kurt Volker is at a loss. “I talked with representatives of the Congress, the Senate and the Trump administration - we have maintained relations with them for a very long time, and with representatives of the UK, the House of Lords, for example - they are now studying this document. They study positions that have already been announced. Deputies, for example, experts who prepared it. There is information on the fundamental points.
And they say - why is this document not published today on the Verkhovna Rada website, why has it been postponed until the holidays, until it is signed? But because our president clearly understands that, in fact, having created such an unknown precedent, calling the word “occupation” “aggressor”, and at the same time active trade is taking place, this raises a question.
Are these not triple standards that the authorities are trying to impose on both the West and the citizens of Ukraine? In fact, they are working behind the scenes with the Russian Federation and even with those territories that we are talking about today.
They also ask: “What is the fate of the “Minsk process”, which is not mentioned anywhere? How should we continue to behave as participants in the Normandy format?” And this is Germany, France.
