Volker promised Ukraine US assistance in strengthening the fleet and air defense
Washington is ready to discuss further arms supplies to Ukraine in order to strengthen the navy and air defense, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
As reported by Interfax-Ukraine, Kurt Volker, Special Representative of the US State Department for Ukraine, told the Guardian newspaper.
“They lose soldiers every week defending their own country. And in this context, it is natural for Ukraine to strengthen its military forces, engage in self-defense and naturally seek help. And naturally, other countries should help them,” said K. Walker in an interview with the Guardian.
“We can talk to Ukraine, as we would with any other country, about what it needs (to strengthen the army - Ed.). “I think we might talk about the navy... I think we will also need to look at the issue of air defense,” he added.
Kurt Volker also said in an interview that there is still a significant difference in position between Russia and the United States on the issue of deploying a UN peacekeeping mission in Donbass.
